Market Opportunity – Outsourced Network Security Consulting and Managed Security Services
Explosive growth in the Internet has led to a dramatic increase in the need for enterprise security consulting and managed security services to protect corporate enterprise infrastructures. According to Forrester Research, companies will triple security spending to $19.7 billion by 2004. The Forrester study also found that although most companies preferred to have internal security solutions, a lack of money and time are forcing many of them to outsource security services. For example, the average IT budget for internal security systems will drop from $1.7 million in 2000 to $1.5 million in 2002, while outsourcing spending will increase from $140,000 to $590,000 during the same time period. "The overall security market isn't suffering from any downturn in IT spending," says Chuck Jones, an analyst at Salomon Smith Barney. "Fortune 500 companies are spending 1 to 2 percent of their total IT budgets on security. It's too important to cut." |
