Service Delivery Methodology

Dataway takes a complete lifecycle approach to our network security consulting engagements.

Our professional services delivery methodology consists of four phases:

PHASE 1 - Assessment - Requirements Analysis and Planning

At the beginning of any project, Dataway and its clients work together to ensure identification, agreement, and documentation of the project objectives, avenues of communication, measurable success criteria and contingency planning. This initial phase lays the foundation for clear and ongoing client communication with mutually agreed upon roles and responsibilities. Clear deliverables are defined and benchmarks established to measure project progress.
  • Joint workshop to assess security needs and define project goals and objectives
  • Vulnerability scan
  • Evaluate threat vectors
  • Review of network
  • Creation of network map
  • Review of security policy
PHASE 2 - Design

During the Design phase, Dataway applies proven security architecture design principles and security architecture templates to ensure scalability as well as to reduce the cost and difficulty of ongoing management and support.
  • Creation of network map
  • Design of security policy
  • Recommendations of platform
  • Recommendation for ancillary security solutions e.g. IDS, anti-vandal/anti-virus, h/a, authentication etc
PHASE 3 - Deployment

During Deployment, Dataway employs hardened OS-specific scripted installation and maintenance protocols to ensure consistency and quality control across all builds. During this phase, Dataway engineers utilize a fully equipped test lab to configure and test it clients' security components.

  • Configuration build of equipment and integration into network
  • Creation of firewall policy documentation
  • Configuration of network management platform
  • Installation of management agents
  • Verification and acceptance of the architecture
  • Customer approval and signoff
  • Creation of customer escalation contacts list
PHASE 4 - Evaluation - Ongoing Reporting and Management
  • Faults are reported through standard trouble ticketing, customer notification (email/phone) and escalation procedures
  • Secure web-based and real time reports on bandwidth utilization
Communication, Clear Deliverables, and Client Approval Throughout the Process

Regular project review meetings, biweekly progress reports, and mutually-agreed escalation procedures are used throughout every project to avert delays and to facilitate problem identification and resolution.

An internal Dataway peer review process ensures that written plans must pass three rounds of approval prior to client submission. In addition, client signatures will be required for key deliverables in each of the project phases.

Throughout the project, Dataway Professional Service Engineers work with documented methodologies ranging from security threat modeling to subnetting large networks into discrete functional zones. Dataway will use it’s "security syntax" to accurately describe these security zones and detailed rule types.
